Jim Kadonaga, PhD
Chairman of the Scientific Advisory Board

Dr. Kadonaga is currently Professor of Molecular Biology at the University of California, San Diego. He has made many fundamental contributions to understanding mechanisms of transcriptional regulation and chromatin structure in eukaryotes.

Marc Ballivet, PhD

Dr. Ballivet, Professor in the Department of Biochemistry at the University of Geneva, Switzerland, was a co-founder of the company with Dr. Kauffman. His research is focused on the regulation and developmental role of neurotransmitter receptors in the brain.

Cynthia Edwards, PhD

Dr. Edwards is Vice President of Technology at Genencor International. She has extensive experience in transcriptional regulation of gene expression and in applying knowledge about protein/nucleic acid interactions to drug discovery.

Stuart A. Kauffman, MD, PhD

Dr. Kauffman, a pioneer and leading theorist in complexity science, has been researching genetic networks for more than 35 years. Dr. Kauffman founded BiosGroup, Inc., and the Santa Fe Institute. He was also awarded a MacArthur fellowship. Dr. Kauffman holds a BA from Dartmouth College, a BA from Oxford University and an MD from University of California, San Francisco.

Elliot Meyerowitz, PhD

Dr. Meyerowitz is Professor and Chair of Biology at the California Institute of Technology. His expertise is in plant biology and biotechnology, particularly in studying gene expression in plant development, and he played a key role in the Arabidopsis Genome Initiative.

Paul Sternberg, PhD

Dr. Sternberg, currently Professor of Biology at California Institute of Technology and a Howard Hughes Medical Institute Investigator, studies the molecular genetics of development using the worm C. elegans. He is also the leader of WormBase, a multi-institutional project to gather and disseminate genetic information on this model system.

Benjamin Monderer, PhD
CEO and President

Dr. Monderer was the founder and former Chairman and CEO of Box Hill / Dot Hill (Nasdaq:HILL), which he took public in 1997. Dr. Monderer's background includes research in biological signal processing. Dr. Monderer holds a BS from Princeton University and a PhD from Columbia University.

Mary Harper, PhD
Chief Operating Officer / Chief Scientific Officer

Dr. Harper, an expert in nucleic acid technologies, has over 20 years experience in molecular genetics and biotechnology. She has led successful R&D activities at several companies including Introgen Therapeutics, Genta and Gen-Probe. Dr. Harper holds a PhD in molecular genetics from the University of Minnesota.

Robert MacDonald
Director

Mr. MacDonald has over 25 years of management experience as President/CEO of five venture capital backed companies, including two that he took public, and as a General Partner of two venture capital firms. Mr. MacDonald holds BS and MS from Cornell University and an MBA from Harvard Business School.

Louis Padulo, PhD
Director

Dr. Padulo is President Emeritus of the University City Science Center in Philadelphia, and has held numerous prestigious academic positions including Dean of Engineering and Associate Vice President at Boston University, President of the University of Alabama in Huntsville, and Professor at Stanford University.
